Build Advice was founded by Harrison Bray, a qualified carpenter through BCITO with over 20 years of practical construction experience.
Throughout his career, Harrison has most enjoyed helping people understand what is happening with their property or project, work through difficult decisions and achieve better construction outcomes.
Today, homeowners have access to more information than ever. AI and online tools can provide answers quickly, but a fast answer is not the same as sound construction advice. Information can be incomplete, out of context or simply not appropriate for the particular building, project or situation.
Build Advice was created to combine modern technology with real construction experience and professional judgement.
The technology helps make the service more accessible and allows practical experience like Harrison’s to be applied more efficiently — helping more people access qualified construction insight at an affordable cost.

Harrison Bray
Founder & Construction Adviser
Harrison began working in construction as a teenager, gaining hands-on experience across residential building work including house levelling and piling, painting, home improvements and general construction.
He went on to complete his carpentry apprenticeship through BCITO, working across renovations, new homes and architectural residential projects. During his apprenticeship, Harrison was selected to compete in the Registered Master Builders Apprentice of the Year, where he placed third in the Northern region.
After qualifying, Harrison continued developing his experience before starting his own residential construction business. He ran the business for more than a decade, working directly with homeowners, managing projects, coordinating trades and delivering residential building work. The business was also a Registered Master Builders member.
Running his own business broadened Harrison’s experience beyond the physical building work into scope, pricing, project management, problem solving and helping customers make practical decisions about their homes and projects.
Harrison later founded Build Advice to make that practical construction experience and professional judgement available to more people in a simple, accessible and affordable way.
A remote advisory service
Build Advice works from customer-supplied descriptions, photographs, reports, quotes, plans, specifications, correspondence and other relevant information.
It does not replace an on-site inspection, engineering, legal advice, regulatory services or other specialist professional advice where that level of expertise is required.
Where a matter cannot responsibly be dealt with through a remote review, Build Advice will say so.
